Concern over vehicle theft

Increase in vehicle theft causes concern.

The Primrose police are growing increasingly concerned over the number of vehicle thefts in the area.

“On average we record three to four cars being stolen in the area,”said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the police station.

“We find that a large number of the vehicles stolen are parked on pavements or under carports, where gates are not properly secured.

“Primrose’s officers are trying to curb these thefts, but we need the community to help.

“We, therefore, ask the public to not park their vehicles on pavements, whenever possible, and to never leave valuables in their vehicles, as this encourages would-be criminals.”

Officers continue to patrol and have started to take down the registration details of cars left unattended, to assist in stolen vehicle cases.

If members of the community notice anything suspicious in their area they can contact the sector patrol vehicles on 071 675 6864/5/6/7/8/9.
