“While doing cluster stand-by duties, I visited the Germiston SAPS and found that they had arrested a man, aged 29, for business robbery, in President Street,” said the communications officer for the Primrose SAPS, Const Styles Maome.
It is alleged that three males entered a shop; one stood at the door, another grabbed the victim by his clothes, and the third took money from the till, before they all fled.
The victim ran after the men and managed to corner and catch one of them.
He then called the police, who responded quickly.
“We thank the police for their quick response and the victim for such bravery, however, we encourage our community not to put their lives in danger; they should rather call the patrol vehicles, because they are in the sectors,” said Maome.
The man appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and the matter was postponed for a bail application.
