Through the joint efforts of the Primrose police and EMPD, three men, aged between 20 and 38 were arrested for the assault of a petrol attendant.
The incident took place at a local petrol station, when three men demanded that a petrol attendant take them to the station’s ATM to draw money.
When he refused, as he was still busy with a customer, they began to push him around.
“He attempted to stop the men, but they became more violent and began to punch him.
“It was then that passing EMPD officers stopped to break up the fight,” said Sgt Style Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The EMPD officers were able to arrest two of the three suspects, while the third, who ran from the scene, was trapped by Primrose police.
All three were taken to the Primrose Police Station.
The men appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where two of them were detained pending their trial, and the third was released on a warning.
