Murdered over beer

Man murdered during an argument.

The Germiston police recently arrested a 34-year-old man, believed to be responsible for a murder that took place in Dukathole, in March of this year.

Officers were alerted to the murder by staff at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital.

Upon their arrival at the hospital, officers were told that a 35-year-old man had been brought to the hospital with what would prove to be a fatal stab wound.

He had received the wound during a fight over a beer.

“When the accused heard that the victim had died he came to the Germiston Police Station and voluntarily handed himself over to police,” said Sgt Styles Maome, on behalf of the cluster commander.

“After he had been arrested he took officers to the place he had hidden the knife which he had used to stab the victim.”

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for trial.
