Rotary aims at improving health

Community gets care during the Rotary family health days.

Community members, young and old, benefited from the Rotary Health Days held in the city from April 2 to 4.

In Germiston, two sites, manned by Rotary volunteers and other non-profit organisations, which offered assistance, saw over 2 000 people in total.

Rotary Health Days stations were set up at the Wannenberg Clinic, in Primrose, and the Klopper Park Clinic.

The Boksburg Lake, Johannesburg East and Edenvale Rotary Clubs worked hard at the Wannenberg Clinic and assisted many children and their mothers.

On Thursday, alone, they saw more than 300 children and 200 women.

In total, over the three days, they assisted 2 040 people.

The Knights Pendragon and Bedfordview Rotary Clubs worked at the Klopper Park Clinic.

They saw about 650 people over the three days.

The following services were offered to the community: HIV testing and counselling; TB symptomatic screening; diabetes and blood pressure screening; polio and measles vaccinations; deworming and vitamin A drops.

The Rotary Health Days proved a great success, with many people receiving care.
