The Elsburg CPF invited the GCN to meet their, recently started, canine unit.
The unit trains every Sunday, on the Elsburg Primary School grounds, under the guidance of Frank Meyer.
The unit was started just over a month ago, in the hope that the dogs would help improve the community’s security and the CPF has noted an improvement in security since the canine unit has started patrolling the area.
“The Elsburg CPF canine unit was born out of need for improved security in our area; you have to be a CPF member to join the unit,” said William Eales, the Elsburg CPF president.
In addition to the active unit, the CPF has started offering poison training at their monthly meetings.
In the poison training a dog is taught not to accept food from strangers and to eat only when they are given a password.
This training takes approximately a week and a half to complete.
