A 24-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police, on charges of housebreaking and theft.
The arrest was made when officers received an alert from a local security company that there was a housebreaking in progress, in Cydonia Road.
Officers rushed to the scene, where they found the homeowner waiting for them.
He told police that he had come home and discovered his house had been broken into; he noted that two laptops, a music player and jewellery had been taken.
The security company’s officers had managed to capture one of the two suspects believed to be responsible for the housebreaking and theft.
He was handed over to police, along with a number of the items reported to have been stolen from the home.
“The Primrose police thank the security company for their dedication and hard work.
“We hope that, by working together with local security companies, we can make Primrose a safer place,” said communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome.
The man was taken to the Primrose Police Station where he was questioned.
During the interrogation it was found that he had been linked to two cases of housebreaking in the Marlands area.
He is also wanted by the Jabulani SAPS.
The man appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for trail.
He will remain in custody till his next court appearance.
