New station commander visits Makause

Makause community must help fight crime.

The new station commander for the Primrose SAPS, Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, has been out and about meeting the community.

He attended the recent Primrose CPF meeting to introduce himself to the members and then, last Sunday, addressed the Makause informal settlement community.

He spoke to them about crime in their settlement.

After being introduced by the chairman of the Makause informal settlement committee, Kgabo Kwenaite, Khuzwayo informed the community of Makause that he is not happy about the crime in the settlement and the types of crime, for example, murder, rape and theft, that are taking place.

He encouraged the community to work with the police in an effort to fight crime.

He also advised them to number their shacks, to make it easier for service delivery.

Khuzwayo said the community needs to report any criminal activities to the police and to make sure they know the tenants they are living with.

“Should a tenant commit a crime, his/her shack must be destroyed, as we cannot harbour criminals,” he said.

He added that the community should feed the police with information, and he will organise whistles for community members.

These can be used to alert neighbours when a resident is experiencing difficulties.

“Each and every resident of Makause must feel free and safe,” he said.

He also discouraged community members from throwing stones at the police or emergency services vehicles.

“They are trying to render a service to your community and I warn you that, should you do this, you will be dealt with,” Khuzwayo said.

“To all the criminals in Makause: I advise you to move out voluntarily, as you will soon be arrested.”
