Chris Van Noordwyk recently called the Germiston City News to report a dangerous, open manhole on Rietfontein Road, in Primrose.
“I noticed this manhole and the threat it presents when my daughter fell into it and was hurt,” he said.
“Luckily she didn’t suffer fatal injuries, but I feel it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.”
The GCN sent van Noordwyk’s concerns to the metro and the manhole was closed within three days of the problem being reported.
A statement was then issued by Themba Gadebe, of the metro’s department of communications and brand management, who said: “The manhole was closed this morning.”
