Station commander declares war on illegal liquor

Man arrested during operation in Makause.

During an operation in the Makause informal settlement, on Saturday, July 26, a 26-year-old man was arrested for selling liquor without a licence.

The man’s premises were searched during the arrest and beer bottles, empty beer bottles and a music system were confiscated,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome .

“Due to the volume of crimes related to liquor, station commander Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo has declared war against illegal outlets in the area.

“This was the first of many operations of this nature.”

The man was taken to the Primrose Police Station, but later released after paying an admission of guilt fine.
