Helping the community of Elsburg

Help Engel se Hande help the community.

The Germiston City News travelled to Elsburg, recently, to speak to Raymodene Pretorius.

Pretorius started Engel se Hande, an organisation focused on helping the community of Elsburg.

“Our main focus at the moment is on Laerskool Elsburg,” Pretorius explained.

“The school has a number of children who do not get much food as their families are struggling.”

Engel se Hande was originally started as a soup kitchen, to supply a warm meal to the children who needed it most, and has since grown into a feeding scheme.

“Once we saw the demand for food we decided to start offering more of a variety to the children,” said Pretorius.

Engel se Hande also plans to visit old age homes in the area and has started a youth organisation for the youngsters of Elsburg.

“We want to visit the elderly, to talk to them and just give them some much needed attention; we find, with a lot of the elderly, that their children have stopped visiting them,” added Pretorius.

To continue the work they are doing Engel se Hande is asking the community for donations of any food products, toiletries or anything else they feel families in need may be able to use.

She thanked Belinda and Leo Benade for their ongoing support and donations to the organisation.

For more information on the group, or to see how you can get involved, call Pretorius on 079 174 3595, or Denese Olkers on 082 365 4009, or email to engelsehande@gmail.com.
