Man assaults ex-girlfriend

Woman assaulted by ex-boyfriend while out with friends.

A 32-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police and charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The arrest was made after the victim, the accused’s ex-girlfriend, came to the Primrose Police Station to open a formal case against him.

She told the officers she was out with friends when her ex-boyfriend suddenly appeared and demanded to know what she was doing.

“Before the victim had time to answer, her ex-boyfriend started hitting her with a brick,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The woman sustained serious injuries during the attack.

Officers were able to trace the suspect, using the victim’s description.

He was arrested and appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed.
