Resident just wants a good night’s sleep

Blaring alarm is disturbing the peace.

Dot Leggott, a resident of Marlands, just wants a decent night’s sleep.

However, for her and many of her neighbours, this is highly unlikely due to the fact that an alarm goes off almost every night.

The Caledon Road resident told the GCN that she has tried everything to trace the whereabouts of the alarm.

“We believe it might be coming from a factory, but I dont know from which area,” Leggott said.

There are a number of industrial areas close to Marlands and Leggott has followed up many leads as to where the alarm might be coming from, to no avail.

“We are being disturbed almost every night by the alarm at random hours almost every night,” she said.

“It goes off for about five minutes then stops, but by that time you have been woken up completely and it is difficult to get back to sleep.”

Leggott added that this has been happening for a few months and she no longer knows where to turn to find the problem alarm.

She spoke to the SAPS who said that, unfortunately, they couldn’t help if she couldn’t tell them where the alarm was going off.

Leggott is appealing to the community to call her on 076 895 6589 if they know from where the noise is generated.

If you have a business in the area and it is your alarm going off, then please also contact Leggott and have the alarm system checked to find out why it is going off every night and disturbing the peace.
