Primrose Police recently arrested a suspect, aged 19, for housebreaking and theft in Elm Street, Homestead, in Primrose.
The complainant alleged that she woke up, that morning, and heard dogs barking.
Upon inspection she found four males carrying items in her lounge.
When the men saw her they allegedly ran out of the house.
The complainant, together with her husband and son, gave chase and managed to catch one suspect.They handed the man over to the police, who responded quickly to the complaint.
“We salute the bravery of the family for arresting the suspect,” said the communications officer for the Primrose SAPS, Sgt Styles Maome.
“We also appeal to the community to be extra cautious when they chase suspects, because some of them are armed and might put your life in danger; the community should call the police to help when necessary.”
The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and the case was postponed for plea and trial. The suspect remains in custody.
