Two arrested for assault GBH

Two different assault GBH cases.

Primrose Police arrested two suspects, aged 24 and 29, for assault GBH, in the Makause and Marathon informal settlements.

The first incident recently occurred in the Marathon informal settlement, where the victim alleged that she was draining water that had allegedly been poured into her yard by the suspect.

The suspect’s husband allegedly came over and started arguing with the victim and, when the suspect heard the argument she came out, picked up a brick and hit the victim with it.

The victim suffered injuries to her back.

The second incident took place in the Makause informal settlement, on September 1, when, the victim alleged, he had an argument with his neighbour about tools that he had lent to him during last year.

The victim claimed that when he demanded his tools back his neighbour went inside his shack and brought out a piece of metal with which to strike him. The victim, however, managed to grab it.

The accused then, it was reported, went back to his shack and returned with a brick, with which he struck the victim on the upper body, causing injuries.

“We appeal to the community not to take the law into their own hands, but to rather come forward when they have challenges,” said the communications officer for the Primrose SAPS, Sgt Styles Maome.

Both suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and both cases were postponed for various reasons.
