The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) has prioritised the urgent appointment of 13 chief superintendents, the majority of who will be deployed in the operations division.
The appointments were made to ensure efficiency and effectual control and planning at first line management level.
The appointees were promoted from within the organisation, with effect from September 1, 2014.
All the new appointments, excluding three, will be working in the operations division.
The other three have been deployed in logistics, internal prosecution and data management.
Ahead of their challenging responsibilities, the new chief superintendents will undergo intensive training at the EMPD Academy, to hone their managerial, technical and communications skills.
