EMPD vehicle crashes into the back of bike
Motor bike hit by EMPD vehicle when trying to join Pretoria Road, in Primrose.
The GCN was called to the scene of a collision, on Monday.
The accident occurred on the corner of Beaconsfield Avenue and Pretoria Road and involved an EMPD vehicle and a motorcycle.
The GCN approached Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD, for comment on the incident.
“At 11am, in the Primrose area, at the corner of Pretoria Road and Beaconsfield Avenue, an (branded/marked) EMPD Volkswagen Polo sedan, driven by a female EMPD officer in her 30s, collided with a stationary black Triumph motorcycle driven by a male in his 40s,”he said.
“No injuries were sustained in the incident.
“It is not clear at this stage what actually occurred before the crash, but preliminary investigation reveals that the motorcyclist was stationary at the stop sign, ready to join Pretoria Road, when the approaching patrolling EMPD vehicle bumper-bashed the bike from the rear.
“Our Ekurhuleni Metro Police Accident Reconstruction Unit will investigate the actual cause of the accident.”
