Germiston SPCA reaches out to the animals of Katlehong

Caring for Katlehong’s animals.

The Germiston SPCA staff and committee members had a most enjoyable day assisting and interacting with Katlehong community members on November 5.

The organisation conducted an outreach project in the area.

Pam West, a committee member told the GCN that the low turnout from the community was a bit disappointing.

“We were expecting a huge crowd of people,” she said.

“Nevertheless we attended to all on a more one-on-one basis giving lots of animal welfare advice and education at the same time.

“Community members young and old appreciated our attendance and we were well received.

“It was a happy outreach day.”

The SPCA staff treated some animals on the spot and did plenty of dipping and tick removal.

They also removed a large number of dangerous collars and leashes and replaced them with new ones.

A number of unwanted dogs were collected and lots of animals were taken for sterilisation.
