National electricity supplier Eskom is currently in Stage One load shedding and has requested the metro to reduce the load on its electricity network.
Since 1pm today (Friday), the metro has been undertaking this load reduction exercise by following the load shedding schedules available on the municipality’s website (www.ekurhuleni.gov.za).
The municipality has been requested to reduce its load by at least 150MW and will be switching off various areas to meet this requirement.
Residents are urged to treat all electrical network points and equipment as electrically alive at all times.
