Residents get surprise Christmas visit

Residents at the Avril Elizabeth Home for the Mentally Handicapped were thrilled to receive Christmas presents.

A special Christmas function was held for the residents of the Avril Elizabeth Home for the Mentally Handicapped, last Saturday.

A group of Witfield residents, under the leadership of Belinda Goose, visited the residents with special gifts for all of them.

Belinda told the GCN the idea to give each resident a personalised gift started when they visited the home and met one of the residents, named Morné.

He introduced himself and showed Belinda his dance moves and Belinda noticed that his takkies were rather worn.

She then mobilised people in her community to sponsor presents for each of the residents so that they would know the joy of Christmas.

The team had a great time chatting to the residents at the event.
