Standing against child abuse

Elsburg SAPS and the Sunshine Centre walk against woman and child abuse.

The Elsburg SAPS Women’s Network, together with the Elsburg Social Crime Prevention and the Sunshine Centre Associates Elsburg hosted a fun-walk on Thursday.

The fun-walk formed part of the station’s plans for 16 Days of Activism, and saw members of the local CPF, police force and centre take to Du Toit Street in Elsburg.

The group chanted anti-abuse slogans and held posters to the same effect.

After the walk, the team spent time with the children of the Sunshine Centre, handing out party packs, cupcakes and other treat to the children.

The Elsburg SAPS Women’s Network also donated a number of toys and learning tools to the centre, to assist in them with caring for the children of the centre.

The 16 Days of Activism is a worldwide campaign which opposes violence against both women and children.

It aims to raise awareness of the negative impact violence and abuse have on women and children and hopes to rid society of this form of abuse permanently.
