Making it on her own

Future looks bright for Zandi Taute.

Zandi Taute’s family couldn’t be more proud of her, after finding out that she has passed her National Senior Certificate.

Taute is one of many 2014 matrics to do this but her story it a little different.

She did home schooling through online site “Brainline” from a farm in Cradock where she stays with her grandfather.

After the death of her grandmother in 2010, Taute was left to handle her studies on her own as her grandfather often worked late on the farm.

This dedicated young woman would even travel up to Gauteng on her own -by bus as she had no other means of transport- to hand in assignments or write exams.

Like many others she sat for her final examination in Gauteng and, although she may not have not stacked up the A’s, she passed all her subjects with a degree pass.

This means she is able to study at a tertiary institution.

She had many challenges throughout her high school career but she has managed to overcome them, and proven to herself and others that she can do anything she sets her mind to.
