Load shedding to be implemented
Power cuts will take place from 11am to 10pm today due to an increased demand for electricity.
Stage one load shedding will take place nationwide from 11am to 10pm, Eskom confirmed.
The power utility attributed the power cuts to increased electricity demand.
Eskom was forced to implement load shedding several times last year due to limited generating capacity, problems at some power stations and technical issues.
Just this week the company had two generations offline, making the power grid extremely vulnerable.
The generators have since been repaired and brought back online.
Eskom managed to make it through the festive season without implementing load shedding, something many South Africans feared.
