Risk of load shedding hangs over communities

Eskom appeals to customers to reduce their electricity usage.

Eskom is once again appealing to consumers to reduce electricity consumption in an effort to avoid further load shedding.

Since Monday the company has implemented load shedding after several of its generators broke down.

Eskom officials say the risk of further power cuts this week remains high.

After yesterday’s (Wednesday) load shedding Eskom is urging consumers to be patient as technicians work to repair its faulty generators.

It is reported that load shedding came to an early end yesterday as there was a reduced energy demand.

However, Eskom says its grid is still under pressure as essential maintenance is being carried out on an aging fleet of generators.
