Jan Black, an Estra resident, claims he has been battling to get the metro to repair his leaking water meter since last year.
He said his water meter has been leaking since February, 2014.
“Despite numerous calls to the metro, nothing has been done to repair the leak,” Black said.
The GCN approached the metro to find out:
- When will this be repaired?
- Why has it taken so long to repair?
“The matter was attended and repaired in February 2014,” explained Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro.
“A follow up inspection, done in March 2014, confirmed that the repairs were complete and there was no evidence of any further water leaks.
“The water department team further investigated the above query, and it was found that the water meter was operating as normal.
“The water seen in the complainant’s meter box, came from the neighbour’s leaking internal water pipes.
“As soon as the complainant’s neighbour repairs the internal leaking water pipes, the water in the meter will no longer appear.
“The municipality sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused,” Gadebe concluded.
