Girl Guides to celebrate World Thinking Day
Calling Girl Guides to take a ‘selfie’ for World Thinking Day.
Each year, on February 22, 10 million girls and young women, and over one million adult leader volunteers celebrate World Thinking Day by doing activities and participating in advocacy campaigns.
World Thinking Day was first celebrated in 1926.
Now, Girl Guides around the world, come together every year to organise fun activities and to learn more about the World Thinking Day theme.
World Thinking Day is also an important fundraising day for the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting Movement worldwide, which benefits millions of girls.
The money raised is used to carry out projects and advocacy campaigns, and to support member organisations in their work at grass roots level.
“To show that we in South Africa are thinking of Guides around the world, all SA Guides are encouraged to wear their Guiding uniform to school,” said Hilary White from Girl Guides South Africa.
“Although Thinking Day falls on a Sunday, girls will be wearing uniforms to school on either Friday, February 20 or Monday, February 23.”
