Ekurhuleni Peace Corps members protest

Ekurhuleni Peace Corps members want the mayor to give them answers.

Members of the Ekurhuleni Peace Corps demonstrated outside the Germiston Civic Centre, this morning.

According to the GCN’s journalist on scene it was not an EFF march as reported earlier on Twitter by Intelligence Bureau (@IntelliBureau).

The Peace Corps members were demanding information from the mayor as to why they have two contracts.

Members are unhappy about the way they are being treated.

According to a member who spoke to journalists they were apparently supposed to be employed permanently but this has not happened.

Other issues the members wanted addressed were that of transport, uniforms, payment and overtime.

The Ekurhuleni Peace Corps assists the EMPD in carrying out their duties.

The MMC for finance Clr Moses Makwakwa is currently delivering the budget speech in the metro’s council chambers.
