No one injured in Kraft Road accident

Lucky escape for motorist.

The GCN rushed to the scene of an accident on Kraft Road, Germiston, recently.

ER24 Johannesburg Central Base’s paramedic Chloe Buma was first on the scene.

“I came across the accident and found that there was only one vehicle involved,” she said.

Molefi Thibedi, the driver of the Toyota Hilux that landed on its side in the incident, claimed that his near-death experience was caused by another motorist.

“I was about to join Kraft Road from the N12 off-ramp and the robot was green for me,” he said.

“As I was turning, a car coming down Kraft Road skipped the red robot and, in trying to avoid the vehicle, I swerved away, which was when I lost control of my car, which slid and landed on its side.”

Buma said Thibedi was trapped in the car when she arrived on the scene.

“He couldn’t get out of the car and needed the help of community members, who managed to open the passenger’s window,” she said.

“Motorists have to be more careful on the roads, especially when it is raining, as the surfaces are more slippery then.

“It was drizzling at the time of the accident, so I think that was a contributing factor to the car landing on its side,” Thibedi said.

Thibedi was checked by Buma on scene, but he was taken to Life Roseacres Clinic, in Symhurst, for further evaluation.
