The metro wishes to inform residents and businesses that it is aware of the power supply interruption affecting Germiston and its surrounding areas.

Ekurhuleni technicians have been working tirelessly overnight to restore power supply to the affected areas following a number of cables burning during an attempted theft yesterday afternoon (Sunday, August 2) at the Germiston Extension Eight substation.

The affected areas are:

• South Germiston Extensions Two, Four, Seven, Eight and Nine.
• Germiston Extensions Three and 10.
• Tedstoneville Extension One.
• Sasol solvents.
• Khuthalo hostel and shops.
• Enterprise Foods.
• Dukathole Clinic.
• Portion of Georgetown and Germiston CBD.

Power is expected to be restored by 11am.

The metro apologises for any inconvenience caused.
