Fifteen injured in minibus accident

Fifteen people taken to hospital after accident.

Fifteen people were injured in an accident, this morning (August 11).

The crash took place on Doak Street, near Webber Road, in the Klippoortje Agricultural Holdings.

“Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene and found that a minibus had crashed into a tree,” said Santi Steinmann, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.

“Exact details surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the minibus driver was trying to avoid other vehicles as its brakes failed, resulting in the minibus crashing against a tree while try he tried to negotiate a turn.”

Upon assessment of all the occupants, paramedics found that 15 people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

All the injured patients were treated on the scene before being transported to hospital for further medical care and treatment.
