Consumers have breathed a sigh of relief with 17 consecutive days without load shedding.
The power system remains stable, with a low risk of load shedding, enabling Eskom to carry out its planned maintenance.
Yesterday’s evening peak demand for electricity (30 722MW) was met by available capacity (32 171MW).
“Eskom’s aim is to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no load shedding.
“However, should we experience additional generating unit failure the possibility of load shedding may intensify in which case Eskom will notify customers accordingly,” the company said in a statement released this morning.
Eskom will continue to provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all the media platforms.
