Another sewage leak in Germiston

Sewage leak upsets Primrose residents.

Sewage leaks in Germiston are becoming an increasing problem.

Examples of this are the recent leaks in President and Church streets, in the Germiston CBD.

The GCN also recently received a complaint about the raw sewage leak at the corner of Beaconsfield Avenue and Petunia Road, in Primrose.

The complainant, who does not wish to be named, said she was unable to report the matter to the metro, as the call taking centre’s numbers were engaged.

She was concerned that nothing had been done, despite the leak being visible for more than a week.

The GCN sent a query to the metro, to establish the cause of the leak and the estimated turn-around time for repair.

“This sewer blockage was a result of a broken sewer pipe that obstructed the flow in the line,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.

“Work on site has commenced and we will advise when the repairs are finalised.”
