The metro wishes to dispel rumours that it is planning to pay staff salaries below the collective bargaining council agreement of seven per cent.
The matter will further be clarified this week at the monthly council meeting.
“We wish to assure all staff that we will not be implementing anything less than the agreement of the bargaining council,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.
This has been cleared with organised labour in the city.
