Temporary load reduction to be implemented in parts of Germiston

Some areas in Germiston are currently experiencing power problems.

The metro wishes to inform residents and businesses that it is aware of the power supply interruption affecting parts of Germiston and its surrounding areas.

The interruption is due to a problem on the network supply from Eskom which feeds the Germiston area.

In efforts to minimise the inconvenience to customers, temporary load reduction measures will be implemented while Ekurhuleni and Eskom technicians work to fully restore power to the affected areas.

Areas supplied by the following substations will be affected:

  • Albemarle substation affecting Dinwiddie; Norton Small Farms and Union Proper and its surrounding areas.
  • Niemann Road substation affecting Buhle Park and its surroundings areas and Rondebult Proper.
  • Phumula substation affecting Phumula Township and Roodekop Extensions Ten, 11, 21, 22, 25 and 31.

The metro apologises for any inconvenience to be caused.

Consumers are reminded to treat the electricity network and appliances as electrically live at all times.

The load rotation schedule is currently being finalised and will follow shortly.
