Barbara Jensen, manager of the society, said that 135 dwellings were burnt to the ground, leaving the same number of families completely destitute with no worldly belongings.
Shoprite Checkers donated relief items and the Red Cross were able to distribute 135 food parcels and 270 blankets.
“We are most grateful for the way Shoprite Checkers cares about those affected by disasters,” said Jensen.
