Water will still be provided to areas without water supply
A number of Germiston suburbs are still without water, while others have extremely low water pressure.
The metro is continuing to supply water in the form of mobile water tankers and Jojo tanks to areas of Germiston and Bedfordview that have been affected by water shortages.
A portion of Marlands, Fishers’ Hill and Sunnyridge are still without water, whereas other areas may experience low water pressure.
Water tankers are being provided at the following locations:
- Corner Hazel Street and Pine Avenue, Marlands;
- Corner Oak Avenue and Chestnut Road, Primrose;
- Opposite Old Marlands Swimming Pool, near Solly’s Supermarket, corner Third and Fourth avenues, Marlands;
- Corner Serenade Road and Simon Street, Rustivia;
- Serenade Street, in front of Villa Heunis, Rustivia;
- Corner Elbertfield Avenue and Windsor Street, Homestead;
- Howe Circle, Sunnyridge;
- Corner Neptune and Orient roads, opposite Solheim Old Age Home, Solheim;
- Lucy Street, opposite Quick Spar, Homestead.
Although the supply to Bedfordview has been stable over the past days, some areas may experience low water pressure.
Water will still be supplied in Jojo tanks at the following points:
- Corner Riley Road and Van Buuren Road, Bedfordview;
- Van Buuren Road (east of Harper Road), in front of Virgin Active;
- Parking area at KFC, Kirkby Road, Bedford Gardens;
- Corner Lucas Lane and Norman Road, Bedfordview (in front of Hyundai);
- Corner Fairway Avenue and Penthurst Avenue, Essexwold.
Tankers have been deployed to Palm Ridge Extension Three as levels in the reservoir supplying the area have dropped.
Water restrictions will be implemented from 10pm to 3am in areas where the metro needs to stabilise levels in reservoirs.
This will be informed by the constant monitoring which is currently taking place.
