In the last week of November, the Primrose police made 61 arrests.
The suspects were charged with various crimes, including:
- Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 6
- Common assault: 3
- Possession of drugs: 9
- Malicious damage to property: 2
- Dealing in liquor without a licence: 4
- Driving under the influence of alcohol: 16
- Attempted murder: 1
- Contempt of court: 3
- Pointing of a firearm: 1
- Fraud: 2
- Shoplifting: 1
- Hijacking: 1
- Business robbery: 1
- Indecent assault: 1
- Illegal immigrants: 10
The Primrose SAPS station commander, Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.
Most of the suspects have appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
The illegal immigrants will be sent to Lindela, for deportation.
