The Germiston SAPS cluster stations recently recorded a number of festive season successes.
In the Germiston cluster policing area, 79 people were arrested during normal crime prevention duties, stop-and-search operations, rotating roadblocks and tracing operations.
The operations were conducted by sector members, detectives, Flying Squad members, Cluster Task Team members and members of the EMPD.
More than 200 vehicles were searched and nine traffic fines were issued during the various operations.
“Although the police did their best to keep crime levels low a few incidents were reported,” said Sgt Frank Nkuna, communications officer for the Germiston SAPS cluster stations.
“A leader of the EFF was shot and killed in Primrose and a couple was shot and wounded on the N12 in Alberton after their car broke down.
“Cases were opened for investigation and no one has been arrested in either of the incidents.
“The police request the community’s assistance by coming forward with any information.
“Someone somewhere knows something and someone somewhere has seen something.
