Woman arrested for perjury

Woman arrested after opening a false case of theft with the Primrose police.

A 22-year-old woman was recently arrested by the Primrose police on charges of perjury after she opened a false case of theft.

“The woman claimed that she had been at a local pub, where she met a man,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“After a few drinks the two went home and spent the night together.

“She told police that when she woke up in the morning her cellphone, ID book and money were missing and the man had vanished.”

Using the description given by the accused police were able to trace the man and he was brought to the station for questioning.

“During the investigation it was discovered that the complainant had lied and she was arrested for perjury,” Maome said.

She has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court where her case was postponed for plea and trial.
