Crash leaves one dead, three critical after vehicle lands on railway line

One dead, three injured after vehicle crashes through barriers and lands on railway line.

A Land Rover Discovery crashed through bridge barriers and landed on the railway line, on Wednesday evening.

The accident took place onat the Webber Road railway bridge at about 10.40pm and Ekurhuleni Emergency Services, as well as private ambulance services, responded to the scene.

William Ntladi, district manager media liaison for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), said: “Fortunately there was no train approaching at the time and the necessary communiqué was sent to alert Prasa and Metrorail to the situation.

“One person was, unfortunately, declared dead on the scene, while another three were hospitalised after sustaining critical injuries.

“They were transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital, in Boksburg, by a private ambulance service.”
