While they were out on patrol in Industries West, on Thursday, at 11.30am, Germiston police officers spotted a suspicious-looking man walking on the side of the road.
They stopped the 29-year-old man and searched him.
The officers discovered an unlicensed 7.55 firearm, loaded with seven bullets in the man’s possession.
The police ran a check on the firearm and its serial number (which had not been filed off) indicated that it had been stolen in a Pretoria robbery.
The man was arrested and is being detained at the Germiston Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
