In an effort to drastically reduce the number of illegal immigrants and to persuade those whose documentation has expired to renew them in good time and in a legal manner, EMPD and SAPS members went out in full force, last Thursday.
Operation Bumper to Bumper took place between 2pm and 10pm and targeted the Germiston CBD, as well as Delville.

Sixty-six illegal immigrants were identified and brought to book.
The streets that were targeted included Railway, Webber, Dunkirk, Elsburg, President, Knox, High, Meyer and King, and 10 women and 56 men, with ages ranging from 18 to 41, were apprehended.
Ten Malawians, six Cameroonians, 13 Zimbabweans and 24 Nigerians were charged in terms of the Immigration Act, 13 of 2002 at the Germiston Police Station.
