Construction work continues

Find alternative routes as the intersection of Rietfontein and Cemetery roads will be closed for three weeks.

Primrose motorists will be affected by the road closure that will be implemented at the intersection of Rietfontein and Cemetery roads, from June 27 to July 16.

The closure is due to the construction work that will take place during that period.

“It is the second phase of construction work by Lubbe Construction Pty Ltd,” said the construction manager at Lubbe Construction, Mbulelo Maneli.

“Work is continuing to complete the construction of the Rand Water pipeline on Cemetery Road.

“Work at this intersection will be carried out every Monday to Friday from 6am to 6pm, and on Saturdays from 6am to 5pm, weather permitting.

“Motorists will still be unable to use the intersection even after the operation hours.”

The work started in May, last year, which also saw a number of road closures.

“This work will include excavation, pipe laying, backfilling and reinstating of the affected areas of the road,” explained Maneli.

“Appropriate controls were identified and implemented as part of the project approval.

“Construction environmental management plans, traffic management plans and health and safety management plans have been submitted to the client (Rand Water and Ekurhuleni) and have been subsequently approved.”

To ensure the safety of the community and workers, the following procedures will be implemented:

  • Road signs, barriers and temporary fencing will surround the area of construction.
  • Dust suppression will take place at all times.
