Police target criminals

Detectives use stop-and-search to hunt for wanted suspects.

Detectives from the Katlehong Police Station recently arrested 14 suspects in the Katlehong area.

The arrests were made during a stop-and-search operation organised by the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit.

“Detectives used the opportunity to search for suspects wanted for several different crimes in area,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, the corporate communications officer for the Ekurhuleni West Cluster.

Suspects arrested were charged with serious assault, housebreaking and theft, attempted murder, malicious damage to property, contravening a court order, warrant of arrest and possession of drugs, including dagga and nyaope.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The Katlehong Police Station team plans to continue holding similar operations in the area.
