Lions make a difference for Epworth
The Germiston Lions made a difference in the lives of the children at Epworth Children’s Village when they donated a trailer to be used for food collections.
Epworth Children’s Village was thrilled when it received a new trailer from the Germiston Lions Club.
The trailer was at the top of the home’s wish list as it is needed to collect food and supplies on a regular basis as their current trailer was recently deemed unusable.
“The members of the Lions Club approached Penny Lundie of Epworth wanting to know if they had a wish list, and we were shocked at the length of the list,” said Lions’ president, Graham Kahn.
“The list started with the need of cutlery, crockery, painting, fridges, washing machines and much, much more.
“Topping the list was the urgent need for a 2m trailer.”
Fortunately the Lions were able to help and arranged a brand-new trailer, complete with licence and registration which the club recently handed over to Epworth Children’s Village.
The organisation hopes to do more for the community but to achieve this they need more members.
The Lions Club of Germiston is a service club devoted to helping the underprivileged members of the community and has been doing so for the last 54 years.
“We are currently very short staffed and in desperate need of new, young members,” said Kahn.
