Woman beaten with knobkerrie

A 50-year-old man was arrested after allegedly attacking his ex-wife.

A 49-year-old woman opened a case of assault at the Katlehong South Police Station recently.

The woman who is two months pregnant, claimed that her 50-year-old ex-husband had assaulted her with a knobkerrie, when he saw her talking to another man.

“She alleged that the accused hit her on the arms, legs and in the stomach during the attack, which took place in Moleleki Extension Two in Katlehong,” said Capt Mega Ndobe from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster.

“After the assault, the woman was taken to a local clinic for a check-up, as she’s pregnant.”

Police arrested the suspect for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“The case will be investigated under the Domestic Violence Act, since the victim and the suspect were married,” explained Ndobe.

The man is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
