A 44-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The arrest was made while officers were on patrol in Shamrock Road.
“They noticed a vehicle driving recklessly.
“It turned into Rietfontein Road where the officers were able to stop it,” said Sgt Styles Maome, the communications officer for the Primrose police.
Police ordered the occupants out of the vehicle at which time the driver allegedly struggled to climb out of the car as he was so drunk.
“He was smelt of alcohol, had blood-shot eyes and could hardly stand when talking to the officers,” Maome said.
He was arrested on the spot and taken to hospital to draw blood before being detained at the Primrose Police Station.
He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
