Communication officer at Katlehong Police Station, Capt Mega Ndobe confirmed that a 33-year-old woman has been arrested at Extension 20 in Vosloorus, for attempted murder.

“It is alleged that a woman forced a12-year-old boy to drink potassium permanganate. It is alleged that a woman sent the boy to buy cool drink at a local tuck shop.

“The boy took a long time to return with the cold drink and it was discovered that the boy come late home because he lost the money.

“Community members of Vosloorus Extention 20 realised that the boy was vomiting; and took him to hospital where he was admitted. They also reported the matter to the Katlehong South Police.

“On the morning of Wednesday, January 25, a woman was arrested for attempted murder,” said Ndobe.

Ndobe also said 13 other suspects were arrested during routine stop and search operation conducted by Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit (CPU).

“Suspects were arrested among others for the following crimes: for intimidation, for assault common, for assault with the intent to inflict bodily harm, for possession of suspected stolen property, for shoplifting and for crimen injuria.

Ndobe said all the suspects are expected to appear in Palm Ridge court soon, faced with a variety of charges.
