Young leaders get motivated
The Germiston Rotary Club honoured high school leaders at their annual Prefect’s Evening.
Germiston’s young leaders were acknowledged and motivated at the Germiston Rotary Club’s annual Prefects Evening held at the Germiston Golf Club, last Thursday.
Head girls and head boys together with their deputies and teachers from various high schools in Germiston were invited to the prestigious evening.
“Every year we celebrate the leadership at the schools,” said Germiston Rotary Club’s head of youth, Hugo du Rand.
“We discuss leadership topics and they also get to network together.”
The learners were treated to dinner and a motivational talk by Sifiso Mlilo from KPMG.
When addressing those present Mlilo touched on the different characteristics leaders should possess.
“As a leader, you should have physical characteristics (stamina and good health) and personality characteristics (confidence and honesty),” he said.
“You also have to have the desire to lead, because you may possess leadership qualities, but if you don’t want to lead then it will come across and you won’t be effective.”
