Katlehong SAPS nab 42 over weekend

Katlehong police have a busy weekend with the arrest of 42 suspects.

The Katlehong police arrested 42 suspects during a number of operations held in the area from March 31 to April 2.

The suspects were arrested during routine stop-and-search operations conducted by members of the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit and roadblocks held by members of the EMPD.

The accused were arrested for various offences.

Charges included:

  •  Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 6
  •  House break-in and theft: 1
  •  Domestic violence: 1
  •  Rape: 1
  •  Attempted murder: 1
  •  Possession of suspected stolen goods: 1
  •  Possession of a hijacked motor vehicle: 1
  •  Reckless and negligent driving: 1
  •  Driving under the influence of alcohol: 16
  •  Drinking in public: 7
  • Possession of dagga: 3.

All the suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons, some paid admission of guilt fines and were released.
